About Our Group

Aptitude

The PBL consultant team is composed of some of the brightest young minds of the University of California, Berkeley undergraduate students, handpicked by experienced consulting chairs in a highly selective recruiting process for their high level of motivation, passion for learning, and drive to make a difference for the clients we work with.

Diversity

The diversity of academic disciplines of our consultants, from engineering and computer science to psychology and business administration, reflects the breadth of knowledge that they already bring to the table, no matter the industry of our client company.

Network

With an extensive network of senior students at the Walter A. Haas School of Business, PBL alumni working in various consulting industries, as well as connections to Haas faculty, each project is shaped under the specific guidance and strategic oversight of current business industry professionals.

Clients

Each client is selected through a thorough application process, open to both private and public sector companies of all sizes in the Bay Area. We welcome all clients looking for the most comprehensive, innovative and feasible solutions to problems of all shapes and sizes, as well as consultants who can think out of the box and deliver those results.

Process

We work intensively with one to two companies on semester-long projects, with two committee chairs communicating regularly with the client on the project scope, timeline, and overseeing the progress of the consultants with an executive from the PBL board.

About Our Work

Case Competitions

An internal or external case competition allows PBL as well as other Berkeley students to assess the firm’s case and submit a diversity of thorough and creative solutions to the problem. This is an opportunity for the client company to spread its brand name across campus, targeting the 36,000 college student population at Berkeley, and generate numerous unique, forward-moving strategies from educated students of all backgrounds and academic disciplines.
